Today’s topic is on “De-cluttering Your Mind to lower Stress.”
De-cluttering Your Mind to lower Stress. We have all been there and may get caught up in it again and again overtime. However, learning from each moment will help the transitions that come later, be easier.
Again, as we ease into this topic, I know that I always represent a BASIC content outline to not only help those who need to read a transcript to be able to follow the content I present, but for others who may want to use the transcript as a future reference as well.
The outlined points for “De-cluttering Your Mind to lower Stress.”
Begin with:
· Cluttering of the mind defined.
· Reasons you should care about de-cluttering your mind to lower stress.
· Creatively building strategies that work for you.
· Benefits to help de-clutter your mind.
DEFINITION OF A CLUTTERED MIND
Let’s begin with the definition of a cluttered mind.
The definition of a cluttered mind carries much detail. However, some of the most common ones that most people associate with is the feeling of overload. In an overload mind we may experience an inability to focus our management of items or situations become disorganized and then what rides along with this concerning our health are symptoms like fatigue or straight-out exhaustion.
REASONS YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT DE-CLUTTERING YOUR MIND?
Now reasons for de-cluttering your mind is a doozy! (Laugh).
Reasons for de-cluttering your mind can differ across the board yet; there is a mainframe for why you need to care about working on de-cluttering your mind.
Think of it this way. If you never attempt to de-clutter your mind what happens to the functioning of your mind and even your body?
Let’s say this, your mind and body will remain in a stasis overload until you break the process. When you start having problems remembering simple directives, you become so agitated that you may verbally attack with word choices you did not mean to say, more mistakes happen and that can be harmful depending on what you are working with during that mistake. Racing thoughts where you cannot seem to shut down. An example is with social media, we are all familiar with that one I am sure, and some people feel they cannot disconnect; that they must be in it all the time. Yes, we live in a world of fluent technology that makes just about everything electronically available to us. However, think about where you live, work and play and how any of these symptoms or actions that I listed here can impact them. And these are not all symptoms as the list is lengthy and I will not get into all those particulars.
On another note, something to give thought about is that to give thought is not a negative. It is positive when you think that way because you must think about how you can get better in de-cluttering your mind and start connecting to things that mean more, have value and sustenance and are good for you. That is the positive method of it.
I am not saying in any way to stop your electronic or online social media connections or anything else. These things are part of your daily living- again where we live work and play. Modification is the key though and getting creative with it all for the benefit of de-cluttering your mind.
THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING STRATEGIES THAT WORK UNIQUELY FOR YOU.
The importance of building strategies that work uniquely for you is the way to go.
For the disorganized person
Let’s start with a disorganized person.
Your cluttering mind allows you to feel like you are under control and even though you may feel stress, it’s the type of stress you may feel that brings on your creativity. You are not caught up with operating status quo, usually.
However, if you are not mindful of the chaos and intermingling stress, even if it seems like it feels good, can send you into an overload just the same as an organized person. This would be seen (for a disorganized person) as an excessive relationship to clutter and thus you may experience anxiety and other health related problems.
For the organized person
Now for the organized person. You are still in the running for developing mind clutter because too much organization can become overwhelming and cause stress to build because you are trying so hard to maintain your status quo. Again, it can become an excessive relationship to keep down the clutter.
So, regarding both disorganized and organized people, some of how your strategies may equate will be duplicative.
Here are some strategy examples as something to consider.
Even though it may sound like equating more electronic functioning, find an app that allows you keep a digital format of important things so it’s always accessible and easy to update. You can also organize “To Do” things like:
· Setting a date and time for those things you need to stay aware and only do those things during those dates and times. Again, keep the threshold low for the amount of things you do for those dates.
· Journal what’s on your mind. This is a mind-freeing exercise to help you relax and gain more clarity.
Limit your time with social media interactions as well.
Try not to multitask (if possible) because it may hinder your focus where you need it most.
Set aside time to just be with yourself. Again, this can be placed in your ‘To Do” app, so you know exactly what day and time you give just for you. An example of time for yourself say, is a nap, prayer, yoga, or just enjoying the outdoors; the skies the limit. Just try not to be around anything that requires you to think busily. Take it as you are off the clock for that period.
So, when you consider brain function as a dual with mental capacity just how much mind cluttering is enough?
WHAT YOUR MIND GRACIOUSLY BENEFITS FROM DE-CLUTTERING
Not all mind cluttering is bad per se. I say this because some people function better with disorganization and then there are some people who live for organization. From this perspective mind cluttering can be beneficial to some and for others not so much. However, there are ways for both disorganized and organized people to find balance and it will take patience and commitment on your part. The key here being language choices. What you speak to yourself internally or externally to supply your mind with strengthening word tools to benefit the mind. That is the key.
You have to actually speak words that give you control and authority over the de-cluttering in your mind. Those words must be actionable to make you act. Take a moment at this point to think about what your actionable words will be and write them down.
Some general benefits you may gain by lessening your mind clutter that helps the mind and chimes in with better health aspects whether you are an organized person or disorganized person includes but not limited to the following:
· Clarity of mind that allows for even more thought and behavioral healing.
· Trying to be perfect or procrastinate doing things becomes less present.
· Daily energy starts to build, and it is easier to maintain.
· Productivity remains good and manageable.
· An increase in better choices/decisions.
· Feeling relaxed and more content.
· You like and love yourself even more.
Now how about those! Think about it!
CLOSING REMARKS
As I have mentioned before, personal development and change is of utmost importance as I can help you work on yourself in the following ways regarding de-cluttering your mind to lower stress:
I begin with targeted questions and REDESIGN strategies not GOAL strategies (there is a difference in how your mind reacts) to help you begin to unpack any mindful clutter such as limited belief which is usually a big one, getting a hold on how your emotions might be blocking you from progressing including thoughts and behavior in the line of word choices.
· One part of working on yourself is for you to be aware of your mindful cluttering habits and which ones may cause more strain than others. If you have conflicts with how to get started, I can help you learn how to challenge your thought and behavior with a resolution that tames your mind from rehashing the cluttering and keeping your focus.
· Another proclamation that fits into any dynamic of life including habitual cluttering of your mind is to determine if you desire value and beneficial aspects in your life. You create a plan of attack that is structured and holds you accountable at all times.
If you are not sure how to curate this proclamation, again, I can help you with this.
· As your coach, working from an NLP perspective, is to separate intentions or purpose behind an action from the action itself. That is the key to my practice. You develop ways to unpack and dump the trash.
· Change comes with taking responsibility, being intentional and knowing where your resources are to help you. Again, that is a part of my practice I am fluent with. This is part of becoming confident in yourself.
