_______________________________________________________________________
Today’s topic is on “Redesign Strategically.”
This topic unfolds with mindful consideration of how you would manifest “redesigning strategically” what is important to you that is tangible. In this discussion, I will relay supportive information with steps and tools to help get you started and ready to act.
_____________________________________________________________
To “Redesign Strategically” is a method-based process which means you are committed to changing the functionality regarding what’s important to you-
It is a strategy designed by you for you that gives you a purpose with an itemized directional plan for your future and any specific projects that may come later.
As I have mentioned in a prior podcast, “redesigning strategically” will still involve you being in touch with your language (which is connected to your thought & behavior) a Neurolinguistic Programming approach (NLP), to help keep you grounded and help you focus on the task at hand.
The redesign does not have to be something new per se, as it usually refers to something already available that you feel needs a new way to function that supports and provides you a better outcome with a feeling of immediate satisfaction.
For a side note: This same definition can be applied in a family or organizational unit as well and will involve a lot more work and insight because there is more than just one person to consider. In an organization, it’s the entire structure-internal and external mainframes that must be considered.
In addition to REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY check out a link coming soon on my webpage for those who may be interested in a self-motivated life power up program created by me (Coach Brenda of Brenda Rockward Coaching LLC) that supplements today’s topic.
Now, lets get back to our topic for today on “Redesign Strategically.”
________________________________________________________________________
So, as part of the outline for getting into our discussion I am presenting a BASIC “Redesign Strategically” outline to help you gear up.
I will briefly discuss each step in this podcast as these steps are designed with emphasis in awareness to help you strengthen your own awareness to compliment you no matter where you live, work or play.
_____________________________________________________________
“Redesign Strategically” outline begins with:
· The first step on: WHY
· Step 2 covers : HOW, WHAT, WHO, WHEN
· Step 3 centers on CHALLENGES or OBJECTS IN THE WAY
· The 4th step looks at: WHAT IDEAS TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES or OBJECTS IN THE WAY
· The 5th step involves your: REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY - ACTION PLAN
· The last step is focused on: MAINTENANCE
______________________________________________________________
Let’s discuss our first step.
You may ask “WHY” is staging a “Redesign Strategically” platform essential for you?
Briefly take time to think about this and begin a transformation of creating a Redesign Strategically mission statement that list these “Why” essentials. You do not want to overthink this. Look at it as brainstorming as your mission statement can be modified at any time.
Practicing this step first will provide you a unique view of who you are and where your focus tends to lean towards.
***Remember to choose your language (thoughts & behaviors) in a place of positivity not negativity to get the most from doing this exercise.
________________________________________________________________________
Next is How, What, Who, and When.
These four areas stipulate where you unfold your “WHY’s” and start building your “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY” under a guided foundation.
The guided foundation known as SMART (S-M-A-R-T) is an acronym still being used all around the world since its inception in 1981 by its creator, George Doran regarding goals and objectives concerning management.
Doran, G .T. (1981). “There’s a S.M.A.R.T. Way to Write Management’s Goals and Objectives,” Management Review, Vol. 70, Issue 11, pp. 35-36.
The acronym SMART stands for:
· SPECIFIC
· MEASURABLE
· ACHIEVABLE
· RELEVANT
· And TIME EFFICIENCY
As you apply SMART, consider the following questions in addition to what your mission statement proclaimed. You may produce other questions on your own as your mind opens up to your personal mission.
So, consider…
· How can you make it specific and measurable?
· How can it be achieved or attained?
· Is it relevant to what you desire?
· Who is involved in this other than yourself?
· When will it be implemented and for how long?
_____________________________________________________________
So, I am referencing a couple of exemplary questions by a very well-known author who has many years of credibility for which I feel is a great resource that may help you break your (language) thoughts & behaviors for this section.
The author is Stephen R. Covey.
Covey brought insight into two questions from his published book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (1989 and 2004).
The first question in Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People asks:
“What one thing could you do (you aren’t doing now) that if you did on a regular basis, would make a tremendous positive difference in your personal life? (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey: Habit 3)
The second question asks:
“What one thing in your business or professional life would bring similar results?” (“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey: Summary”)
Like I mentioned earlier, these questions are profound and may serve as additional resources for you moving forward.
________________________________________________________________________
Now we come to Challenges or Objects in the Way.
Regarding the “How, What, Who and When…” achievability depends on specifics, such as what or who stands in your way.
This is where you start making a list of what or who stands in your way.
***Remember, this could also be yourself. If it is, side bar yourself and make a list that deals with you too. Leave no stone unturned in this process.
________________________________________________________________________
The next step takes this process a little deeper into your language (thoughts and behaviors) concerning your ideas to overcome challenges or objects in the way.
In reviewing what you have learned thus far from your prior abstract listings it is highly suggested that you design a T-chart where you have a left side and right side.
You may already be familiar with this from other practiced learning concepts. However, I used this T-chart when I was practicing becoming a certified life coach and it is still a relevant tool in my life coaching business today.
On one side of the T-chart you should list the challenges or objects in the way and on the opposite side of the T-chart list ways you plan to overcome each of the challenges or objects in the way.
You may need to modify the style of your T-chart if you desire more clarity between what is a challenge and what is an object in the way.
Now, I mentioned, “Abstract” listing earlier because you can always go back and reassess your answers.
It is not a concrete design as of right now you are getting ideas out of your mind and on to paper for better visibility and where you can modify it as time goes.
***Remember to include yourself in the T-chart if it applies to you.
NOTE:
If you followed my first podcast on “Confessing Your Troubles” think back about being truthful and free with your language (thoughts & behaviors) communications as a segue to working through this portion.
At this stage of “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY” if you are not willing to be truthful the outcomes may not lead you to where you desire.
Hence, this prepares you for the next key step.
________________________________________________________________________
Bringing all the pieces of work together, this area is centered on your AFFIRMATIONS.
This is your next step.
You are applying your affirmations to the sections you previously described starting with the “HOW, WHAT, WHO, and WHEN” section moving forward.
Write out your affirmations related to your findings.
In your REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY actions, be intentional about where you place these affirmations so that you may consistently view them.
For Example:
As part of one of my life coaching services where I have coached workshops, Clients were introduced to creating a vision board based on the topic discussed. These Clients loved building vision boards to remind them of the REDESIGNED path they chose, and how it helps them remain focused.
It’s a great interactive tool that still has strong foundational use today and one that has served many with positive outcomes.
______________________________________________________________
Lastly, we move into the maintenance component.
As part of your maintenance to “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY” remember that once you have made your affirmations, you must speak them with positive discernment.
Practice daily on what you have built so it will not be torn down.
Be aware that each day comes with challenges and objects that get in the way no matter where you live, work or play.
However, in these moments if you have your “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY-ACTION PLAN to reference then you already have a phenomenal tool at your disposal that can provide you successful, opportunistic tangible results that you can modify as life changes and choices with it.
______________________________________________________________
Remember that REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY is only useful if you apply yourself and that means accountability on your part. It is not a one-time makes good for every single situation or person. Life is not designed this way.
However, once you create your “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY” it serves as an extremely useful template.
It is about devising a strategy where you live, work and play. When you feel your “REDESIGN STRATEGICALLY” needs updating, always return to your created source as a guide.
______________________________________________________________________
Before I close this podcast on “Redesign Strategically” I would like to show support for a dear friend and colleague in his business venture. A business I feel is warranted for the times we live in moving forward and one which abstractly corresponds with my topic today.
Let’s give a shout out to Wesley Hightower from the 82nd Airborne Division, performing many strategic duties, who did special operations in the Army for 20 years, then infantry and on to special forces and becoming a Green Beret.
Wesley and his other business associates and affiliates have taken their talents and lucrative professional experiences to create a company known as Rally Point ISR Solutions which operates as a Defense Company and the acronym “ISR” refers to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
Rally Point ISR Solutions teaches intense courses focused on physical surveillance, counter surveillance, home defense and security and a whole lot more.
If you are interested in what this company has to offer and want more information send Wesley a message at rallypointisrsolutions.com. Again, that’s rallypointisrsolutions.com.
